MEETINGS

December 16, 2003 Meeting

An overview of J2EE Rapid Application Development (RAD) Tools.

Please note that this month's meeting will be at the Holdiay Inn Hotel. See the directions below.

Description: It seems all the major J2EE vendors such as Sun, Oracle, IBM and BEA have recently announced development tools that give average corp. america business application developers (aka enterprise developers) the same rapid development capabilities previously only found in Microsoft VB or PowerBuilder.

We are now working to get a few representatives to demonstrate some of these tools and their advanced capabilities for building JSP, Struts and/or Faces-based database driven web applications.

Speaker: TBD

November 4, 2003 - Special Event

A Special Evening with James Gosling

Description: The Atlanta Java Users' Group cordially invites you to a technical talk and Q&A session given by Sun Fellow and Java creator, James Gosling.

As Vice President of Sun Microsystems Laboratories, James will communicate the most recent news concerning Java since the JavaOne conference, and entertain an extended Q&A session.

This past year, James has spent a large amount of time developing the Real-Time Specification for Java. In addition to creating Java, James has also developed the NeWS window system, and the original Unix Emacs editor. James holds a BSc from the University of Calgary, and a Ph. D. from Carnegie-Mellon University.

We expect a very large turnout for this special event. We will be sending out a link to RSVP so we can better plan for seats. Our current plan is to host this event at the Holiday Inn Select but allow for at least 450+ seats (normal meetings can only accommodate 200 attendees).
