I guess I hadn't looked at blackdown.org recently... it appears that
commodity 64bit Java is upon us already! They already have an rc1 of
their 1.4.1 AMD64 JVM for Linux available for download. I know that
Blackdown works in partnership with Sun, so maybe they're producing the
JVM that Sun will test & brand as their Linux JVM.
On another note, Best Buy had an AMD64 powered eMachines laptop on
special offer for around $1,500 this past week.
Outside of *nix world, I hear that the beta of XP for 64bit is very fast
too.
