Hey,
Here's an update!
After a lot of coaxing, I got my Admin to rip a copy of all the Eclipse
linux ports(2.1.2 release and 3.0M7 stable) and an IBM jre for myself. And
since then, things are looking great! I am not having any of the glitches
I mentioned below. Though the responsiveness is just about bearable.
Also, a weird problem when I was not able to run any debug sessions.
Got this error:
FATAL ERROR in native method: No transports initialized
It seemed, it was not able to resolve the gethostbyname() call which I
resolved by adding a hard IP entry in /etc/hosts. Working fine since then.
Currently, running 3.0M7, with IBM jre141. Also, have got this great plugin
Lomboz (http://www.objectlearn.com/index.jsp) going. The next target is to
setup and get acquainted with the JBoss application server...
Well, after reading unbelievable statement made by the folks at Sun and
Microsoft, I wonder if these are just the beginnings of things to come...
