I wish it was on Linux, but right now 99.9% of their clients are running Windows.

I also found a commercial ifc to Twain (Morena - http://www.gnome.sk/Twain/jtp.html).  Reasonably priced.  I'm going to try the evaluation version and see how well it fits.
