Help with Btrieve using JDBC

Hello:

I want to use java and JDBC to read the data files
of a commercial standalone application that uses Btrieve version 6.15. This 
is a prior release
of Btrieve that is approximately 2 releases behind the current product.

I found a utility that should be able to recreate the DDF files I need to 
read these files.
My understanding is that the DDF files provide the schema information about 
the data files.

My question is: Is this a feasible objective using JDBC and java given this 
version of the database product?

I don't know if Pervasive's current release of the product will read 
version 6 files. The documentation on their web site sounds like "maybe"...

Any tips regarding my approach, reference sources, or how to find a copy of 
this software would be appreciated.
