Sun's John Crupi/ OMG's Model-Driven Architecture/ Compuware webcast
All:
I have had some requests to post the webinar archive and I had some new
information to help familiarize the group to the advanced patterns that John
Crupi presented, OMG's MDA, and its implementation through Compuware's
OptimalJ.
The archive, including John Crupi's presentation, can be found at
http://webevents.broadcast.com/cmp/compuware/060403
In addition, you can learn more about the MDA and its benefits by
downloading Chapters 1 and 4 of "MDA Explained, the Model Driven
Architecture; Practice and Promise" (registration required).
The book is part of the Addison-Wesley Object Technology Series and is
co-authored by three members of OMG's MDA standardization committee: Annekke
Kleppe, Jos Warmer and Wim Bast.

For those who want a hands-on MDA experience, the same link will allow you
to download a lightweight version of OptimalJ. By means of a guided
interactive scenario, you can create a small, three-tier application using
the MDA process. The starting point for the application is a case study
based on a fictitious company called Rosa's Breakfast Service, as documented
in the above mentioned book. The company supplies complete breakfasts
delivered to its customers' homes.
I also encourage our XP friends to get familiar with this because it can
utilize a very lightweight modeling process and delivers many of the same
goals that the XP/agile process is geared towards.
Please let me know if you have any questions and your opinion is always
appreciated.
