I use JBuilder 7 which works well on my Red Hat 7.3/Ximian Gnome
desktop. Eclipse (open source) seems to have quite a following. Look
into JBuilder if you want a GUI builder, Eclipse if not. JBuilder is at
version 8. You can usually get a lesser version on EBay and then wait
for a good Borland upgrade sale (like going to the conference) to get
the latest version.
You may want to note your Window Manager of choice since that can
sometimes affect the IDEs.
