Although I'm a VIM enthusiast, I've tried most IDE's for Java over the
years including Eclipse and always quickly headed back to VIM and
abandoned the IDE... until I experienced IDEA. IntelliJ's IDEA ide is
the one and only IDE that ever moved me permanently away from VIM. I
still use VIM for editing everything else, but IDEA won the day for Java
related work-- Eclipse and others just couldn't compete with VIM, but
VIM placed 2nd to IDEA for Java projects. So, if you are a VIM junkie,
there is one IDE that just might win you over to coexist with VIM.
