If you're using Access due to ease of use, you could
reverse the process by using another small footprint
database such as MySQL (also more reliable) - I'm sure
you've thought of this already.  

To retain that ease of use, you could link the access
db to mysql tables using odbc to linux/mysql.  It
would appear to you that the db is on access and you
could work with it in access.

Also, take a look at sqlLink.
