To the best of my knowledge upgrading the servlet/EJB spec in an
existing container yourself is not possible. The servlet container is
designed to provide services present in a specific servlet API, and
even if you were to splice the latest J2EE classes into your Weblogic
JARs you'd still be missing the container code to support the
extensions, and I'm sure a number of other failures would result.
Please excuese me if this seems redundant or blatantly obvious, but
you may consider upgrading all of Weblogic if you need the newer
servlet specification. The corporation I work for was able to obtain
upgrade keys for our 6.0 products to the latest 7.0 release via an
automated form on BEA's website.
