ArgoUML is one. Java UML tool. UML is the new rave on OO design, a good
intro is Martin Fowler's UML Distilled. Short, quick, effective.
Personally I like to use Omnigraffle, which is a Visio for the Mac [but
sexier... of course]. I'm pretty sure Visio can do UML, and if you're
already a Visio fan you probably won't have the pains that OO designers
have when they go to use it, [it lacks some functionalities.. code
generation, a comfortable OO feel etc].
MagicDraw is another I _think_. No clue if it's free.
'dia' is the linux version of visio. You might want to investigate that.
