Want a Project? Join ours!

Hello,

My name is Steve Jovanovic. A small team of others and I are working on an Open Source Java project called “Skribe,” an innovative (we hope :) ) web journaling system in the early design phase. If you’re interested in being part of a motivated team and working on a neat product, please consider joining us.

You can find more information at http://www.noumenaut.com

We’re currently seeking a web master to maintain both our public (extranet) portal and development intranet, as well as software engineers. Our team consists of members spread out across the U.S., hosted on a centralized Linux server. On the back-end, we use MySQL and JBoss. Many of us use JBuilder, DreamWeaver MX, and either Rational Rose or Gentleware’s Poseidon for UML diagramming. We track the project schedule using MS Project 2002, and use CVS for source control.

Our goal is to create a robust web journaling system that’s more robust and flexible than the existing systems today, with a heavy emphasis on rich content (unrestricted html, minus embedded object tags) as well as powerful search facilities, selective security (the writer determines what a reader can see, per sentence, based on a security level), notification lists, a discussion/comment system, and several other features that we plan to release with each new version released. Our goal for v1 release is late October.

In addition, we’re going to be working with a lot of different Java-related technologies, from JDBC to beans. We’re also heavily into UML and pattern-based architecture. If these interest you, we hope you’ll help, because what we’re trying to design is complicated and we need your brainpower. :) This is a great way to prepare for Java Developer certification.

If you’d like to help, please check out our web, and if you like what you see, join us!

Thanks,

Steve
