Both.  I currently own "Thinking In Java" and am starting to read it.  I am
interested in extending CF functionality using Java (Neo has tons of ways to
do this) ... and also expand beyond and be able to start programming without
using CF at all (though I don't see myself completely abandoning CF in any
way anytime soon).

Well, let me get back to you on that.  For one I'm really not into it's Java
capabilities yet enough to even accurately answer that question.  Second, if
I were, it's all under NDA right now anyways.  As I dig in, I'll see what I
can find and what is what.  I'm sure you'll figure it out soon enough based
on the questions I ask, if I don't just flat out say.  :)
