Re: CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS
The Brittish are coming!
The Brittish are coming!
This issue came up last year, but I guess it's just now going to court.
They'll never get away with it.
But if they do manage to get away with it, I wouldn't be surprised if
Microsoft or the W3C or somebody invents something new to make hyperlinks
obsolete.
<quote>
But BT's Breneisen said outside court, "I think a jury that uses clicks on
their computers every day will be able to see how that relates to this
patent. It's an old patent but it's got an awful lot of similarities to
certain things that are being used on the Internet."
</quote>
Yea, they'll see it. They'll see it as a lame excuse for you to reach into
their wallets. They'll vote it down based on that. There will be a press
release saying that they honestly couldn't see the relation between then and
now. And that may be true. But it won't matter. In their hearts, they
will think one thing: BT stands for Brittish Tea party.
The hyperlink is dead!
Long live the hyperlink!

A British company is suing for patent rights to the "Hyperlink" we
commonly
use on the internet and
wants to charge the millions of internet users for clicking on a hyperlink.
