RE: Open Source Application Servers

Addendums to the list:

Orion isn't open source. I was thinking it was because you can use a
developmental version for free.

Another open-source one is JOnAS

but it's only EJB 1.1

OpenEJB is from the guy that authored the O'Reilly book "Enterprise Java
Beans". OpenEJB is the first app server that tries to create a contract
interface between the server and the container (Sun doesn't have any hard and
fast specs for this so as to not handcuff the specification implementers).

JBoss supports 2.0 and my impressions are it's the king of the EJB open
source hill. I have heard it's not too hard to set up. I think all deployment
is done through Ant, but I can't say for sure. If my friend Blaine is reading
this, he can pipe in since he uses JBoss :)

So, contrary to my last email, I guess I had some feedback to give (it's a
slow part of the day).

OpenEJB and Orion (I think ?). I have no comparative feedback for any of
these. Btw, to see a comparison of some commercial products, come to the
meeting tonight :)

Besides jBoss, are there any other open source application servers out there
worth note?
