Sun's coding standards prefer the former

section 6.4), but that said...

I'd check into an indenter, like jindent (http://www.jindent.com/;
EXTREMELY full featured, commercial) or astyle
(http://astyle.sourceforge.net/, somewhat less full featured, free),
which should solve all your indent/formatting needs.


While we're on this topic, does anyone use an indenter to
automatically enforce their company's coding standars; possibly as a
part of their checkin/checkout procedure?  Id' be curious as to how
you do it (which tools, etc.), how you feel about it, etc.
