If she writes Java2 code and compiles with JDK 1.2 or 1.3 and then loads
into Internet Explorer via the ancient <applet> tag, then it will blow up 
with no warning message, just waiting forever.  Switching to an
appropriately-formatted <object> tag can cure this, since it causes Sun's 
JRE to be used instead of the Java 1.1 JRE that MS has built-in to IE.

PS. You could be having some technical problem that is not letting your app
load from the browser at all.
But I don't know what would cause that without more info.
