"Currently, we offer two mailing lists for the benefit of our membership:

ajug-announce: low traffic announcement list (~1 message/month)

ajug-members: open access list for AJUG and Java-related topics."

Now, the few emails that are being complained about are about the following
topics: Java, the Atlanta job market as it relates to those using the Java
technologies, administration of AJUG, revenue opportunities to fund AJUG.
As far as I can tell these are all well within the bounds of "general
discussion" and "Java-related topics" in Atlanta. What I find especially
interesting is that the noise and complaints generated by these few emails
has almost equaled the number of emails submitted to the list in the first
place. I recieved several useful leads from my message, and appreciate the
responses greatly. For those of you that are complaining about the
messages, stop and think about the fact that your posts add *no value* to
the group, while those that you're complaining about have added value, IMHO.
If you're so concerned about the signal to noise ratio, then do your part,
and don't add to it. Post what you think will help the group, but certainly
don't complain about those of us in tough situations.

Add finally, if you don't care about a particular message...well, read the
subject, and maybe even the first line...and then delete. I'm sure that
doing that would take less time than your rants would.

Subject: Re: AJUG Jobs in ghost town usa?

Enough already!!!!!!!

Doesn't anybody have anything better to do than to use the AJUG
distribution list for a chat board about the job market? It's enough to
read through the number of legitimate issues that people raise regarding
troubleshooting their java challenges. However, for the most part it is
time well spent. On the other hand, people complaining about the job
market (which is out of AJUG's control) isn't fair. Nor is it appropriate
for the AJUG representatives to get defensive and sarcastic in addressing a
frustrated member. Why don't we try to use this forum for what it was
intended for? Hopefully, this beaten, dead horse has been pulverized
enough. Anyway, back to JAVA.
