RE: Screen capture to an image file - GIF, JPEG, whatever
You're correct it's in that book and I think the code is online at ora.com.
Cheers,
Jim

Seems like I remember Jason Hunter discussing how to do something similar to
this in his Java Servlet Programming (O'Reilley) book. I don't have the
book with me at the moment so I can't look up the discussion to see if it is
exactly what you need, but you might try looking at his technique. If I
remember correctly, he is discussing how to serve images from a servlet. If
I'm totally off base I apologize.

Subject: Screen capture to an image file - GIF, JPEG, whatever
Hi all,
I have been wrestling with this task and I hope I haven't overlooked
something easy.
If I have, will someone please disappoint me?
I know I can use java.awt.Robot to capture the screen to an Image
(BufferedImage).
But I don't know how to convert the raw image data to a standard format.
I can't use a third party component that involves licensing or anything like
that.
Is there a reasonable way to do this?
Thanks
Chris
