Java and charity
Hi, Everyone,
We are looking for the volunteers, who would like to
teach the computer programming to the teenagers in the
disadvantaged communities. There are quite a few
bright teens living in the projects, who are bored to
death in the school and consequently get themselves in
trouble. Most of them are facinated with the world of
computers and are capable of learning a computer
language, such as Java, with the applied technologies
(Servlets, JSP, etc.) in about 9 months. The hope is,
that by then they will be able to become interns in
the local companies rather than flipping burgers. The
pilot program conducted in 2000 showed a positive
results. A lot of interest and dedication from the
kids. Current training program will be conducted by
the Real Life Club, Georgia non-profit corporation and
will take place at Cobb Familiy Resources training
center.
If you think you may be interested in helping the next
generation of the computer geeks and would like to
find out more, please let me know - we set time so
that I could tell you more about this program.
Sincerely
Michael Misha Shengaout
