Atlanta IT job market!
"Technology staffing seems to have become commoditized in recent years, but
it is not a commodity business; it is a customer service business, and the
professional technologists that we place are our clients every bit as much
as the companies that they go to work for," said Anteo Group Director of
Resourcing Vince Mayers. "We hope to address this issue by not only by
offering career enhancing employment opportunities, but also by really
listening to what professionals, consultants and candidates need from a
business relationship with a technology staffing firm. Our business is about
people, not resumes."

This month's topic: Web Services, SOAs & ESBs - Our industry is completely
"engaged" in these buzzwords with vendors, standards organizations and just
regular everyday business people thinking that something based on SOAP is
going to revolutionize the world. Is it the replacement of Web browsers and
the Internet? Or is it simply a clever repurposing of Tim Berners-Lee's
creation?
Web Services represents middleware, the glue, the architecture that brings
disparate functions, data, interfaces and user components into a synergistic
whole. Unlike previous middleware frameworks, the evolving Web Services
Framework (WSF) suite of standards supports a truly platform-independent,
language-independent, loosely coupled approach to service integration,
thereby enabling realization of SOA's (service oriented architecture) goals
of maximum service sharing, reuse, and interoperability.

Our speaker:
Chris Haddad is a Senior Consultant and strategist with the Burton Group's
Application Platform Strategies service. He has over 14 years of experience
architecting and managing application development initiatives and providing
advice to leading Web services companies such as Grand Central, Flamenco
Networks, Adjoin, Securant, Employease, Jamcracker, TRX and Raygun. Prior to
joining Burton Group, Haddad was CTO for Cobia Communications, an Atlanta
based consulting firm providing XML Web services expertise.

A strong proponent of Web service standards, Haddad currently chairs the
Atlanta-based Web Services Special Interest Group. He has participated in
the development of technology specifications for the OASIS FWSI TC, IBSi,
ITML, and HR-XML working groups. He worked on Web services infrastructure
for the Apache Axis and Employease EConnect projects and was granted
committer status on the Apache Axis project in 2002. He is currently
authoring a book on Apache Axis for O'reilly and Associates and the creator
of the Burton Group APS Reference Architecture.
