Description:
Taming the Tiger J2SE 1.5
The next major release of J2SE is code-named Tiger. Tiger is scheduled to
"ship" in 2004 with a number of very popular features for Java developers.
This session will describe the new language features and changes to the J2SE
platform. We will describe and provide examples for the new Java syntax for
features such as metadata, generics, enumerated types, autoboxing, foreach
loop and formatted I/O. In addition, Tiger will include enhancements to
various XML APIs, JDBC RowSets and many others. This presentation will focus
more specifically on the Java syntax changes.

Special Event for Atlanta Java Users - November 4 - James Gosling sponsored
by Sun!
AJUG Presents - "A Special Evening with James Gosling." The Atlanta Java
Users' Group cordially invites you to a technical talk and Q&A session given
by Sun Fellow and Java creator, James Gosling.

As Vice President of Sun Microsystems Laboratories, James will communicate
the most recent news concerning Java since the JavaOne conference and
entertain an extended Q&A session.

This past year, James has spent a large amount of time developing the
Real-Time Specification for Java. In addition to creating Java, James has
also developed the NeWS window system, and the original Unix Emacs editor.
James holds a BS from the University of Calgary, and a Ph. D. from
Carnegie-Mellon University.

We expect a very large turnout for this special event.
We are making an attempt to use the online RSVP service called evite.com to
get a feel for the expected turnout. Please give this a try and we'll see if
it helps with our planning.

Again, feel free to forward this announcement to everyone that has an
interest in Java. James doesn't come to Atlanta all that often.
Our currently plan is to still host this event at the Holiday Inn Select but
allow for at least 450+ seats (normal meetings can only accommodate 200
attendees).

See ya'll tonight!
