Dave Thomas Visit
We had a large crowd and Dave was a wonderfully entertaining and informative
speaker at last night's monthly AJUG meeting.
Dave is staying in Atlanta for an encore presentation titled "Herding
Racehorses and Racing Sheep" at a special joint XP (eXtreme Programming),
SPIN (Atlanta's Software Process Improvement Network) and AJUG sponsored
event. Directions and information about this event can be found on the
Atlanta SPIN website:
http://www.atlantaspin.org/
The talk starts at 6:30PM. Dave's extra time in Atlanta was funded by AJUG
and made possible by the support of our corporate sponsors:
BEA (www.bea.com), BravePoint (www.bravepoint.com), Inflow (www.inflow.com),
Spectrum Software (www.spectrumscm.com) and Compuware (www.compuware.com).
Dave's overall trip to Atlanta was funded by the Atlanta Java Software
Symposium. We have had several AJUG'ers attend this event in the past with
very positive reviews. It is the single best professional software
developer educational event held in Atlanta. More information can be found
at www.nofluffjuststuff.com.
I would like to thank Compuware for coming out to last night's meeting and
presenting their OptimalJ product for model-driven, patterns-based J2EE
software application development. More information can be found at:
http://www.compuware.com/products/optimalj/ and the contact is
Richard.Shack@compuware.com.
I would also like to thank last month's sponsor Spectrum Software who spoke
on software configuration management (not just version control). Spectrum
is a local software company that builds their products in Java for the
software development market. www.spectrumscm.com
I would also like to thank some other volunteers that have helped out with
AJUG events. Robert Gash (AJUG VP) for helping to coordinate the Dave Thomas
event with XP and SPIN groups. Justin Meads for his efforts in support our
website updates (www.ajug.org).
Finally, we would like to give our website a facelift, a new look and feel.
There are a couple of folks already looking at this but if you have some
time and creative talent with HTML, graphics, CSS, etc. perhaps you can lend
a hand in this area. Justin Meads is the project manager for this effort.
He can be contacted at jmeads@adelphia.net.
Thank you and we'll see you again on Oct 21st when we have Jason Chambers
present J2SE 1.5 (Tiger) New Language Features.
