J2EE-based Portal architectures! Meeting 10/15
This month's meeting will be tomorrow, Oct 15th from 7 to 9:30 PM. This
month we'll be at the Crown Plaza Ravinia hotel (directly beside our old
meeting location) off of Ashford Dunwoody.
We were trying to organize a .NET vs J2EE shootout but October was not
convenient for all the combatants. We hope to have it in January instead.
This month our focus is on portal architectures that allow the J2EE
developer to add personalization, rules processing, workflow, layout and
content management to their web applications. We will have multiple vendors
demonstrate how to create a "portlet" and drop it into a personlizable
layout.
Current participating vendors include:
* BEA (a top level sponsor of AJUG) portal technologies running on the BEA
application server.
* ClearNova - a local startup building a portal architecture based on J2EE
and open-source technologies
* Novell - J2EE-based (EARs, WARs) portal able to run on a variety of J2EE
compliant application servers.
