Struts - Next Tuesday



Struts - Back by popular demand! Please spread the word.

This month's meeting will be next Tuesday, August 20th from 7 to 9:30 pm.
For those arriving by 6:30 pm we will have our open discussion forum. We
only have seats for about 150 so arrive early to get a seat.

Our meeting location for this month will be at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at
the corner of Hammond Drive and Barfield.

Title:  Jakarata Struts 1.1 - Ready for Prime Time
Description:  This presentation will go into detail on the creation of
Struts-based applications, explore the new features of Struts 1.1 and
provide numerous insights on how to take advantage of Struts in your J2EE
web applications.  This presentation will cover several basic web
application models and their implementation in Struts along with an overview
of the Struts custom tag library, validator, tiles and how to hook actions
to your business logic tier (ejbs).

Speaker: Chuck Cavaness - soon to be published book on Struts by O'Reilly
Chuck Cavaness is a Senior Technologist at the S1 Corporation. His expertise
spans server-side Java, distributed object computing, and application
servers. Chuck is the most recent moderator for the "Java in the Enterprise"
discussion forum hosted by JavaWorld. He spent several years writing
Smalltalk and CORBA applications, and he has taught courses in
object-oriented programming at Georgia Tech. He's written articles for
JavaWorld and InformIt.com. He has also been the technical editor for many
J2EE books, including Using JavaServer Pages and Servlets (Que 2000) and
Special Edition Using Java 2 Enterprise Edition (Que 2001). Chuck earned his
degree in computer science from Georgia Tech. His current interests focus on
building presentation-tier frameworks based on the Apache Struts project.
