AJUG Meeting Tuesday 3/19 on UML

Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 19th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. We'll
have pizza and soft drinks available at 6:30 pm and about 30 minutes
for meeting, greeting and networking. It has come to my attention that
a number of our membership has recently become unemployed. If any
companies have Java jobs available please feel free to use our Job Post

Servlet at http://www.ajug.org/jobs/index.html to advertise your open
positions and I'll also make some annoucements at this month's meeting.
I did not receive any emails from companies looking to hire. If you
know of any projects adding to their staff please feel free to let us
know.

A common question is how much does it cost to attend the meetings. AJUG

meetings are free! The costs associated with refreshments and the room
are covered by our sponsers. Sponsers that are current with AJUG are
BEA, Inflow and Pencom.

The meeting will be held at the Ravinia Conference Center (our normal
location). See http://www.ajug.org/meetings/ for directions and a map.

March's meeting is focused on UML. This presentation addresses the UML
and its benefits beyond the usual perception of just an architectural
notation for software analysis and design. Rather than focus on the
abstract and academic, this session will discuss how implementing the
UML directly within an Integrated Modeling and Development Environment
(IMDE) increases effectiveness throughout the application development
lifecycle. Additional topics to be discussed are system navigation,
refactoring, task automation, and code documentation
and support.

Our scheduled presenter is Stephen Nikitin from Embarcadero
Technologies.
Stephen Nikitin has been in the Application Development business for 23
years. He has held roles ranging from programmer to System Analyst to
Application Development Manager, to Chief Engineer, to Software
Consultant.

The most recent 13 years have been spent within the software vendor side

of the business supporting, and building tools that assist building
Logical Data and Process models , Database Design, Code Generation and
UML based tools.

Stephen holds a Masters of Science degree in Computer Science from
Boston University

As always, we would like to thank our sponsors - BEA Systems
(www.bea.com), Bluestone (www.bluestone.com), Inflow (www.inflow.com),
Pencom (www.pencom.com), and TogetherSoft (www.togethersoft.com) for
supporting AJUG and the Atlanta Java community.

See you there.
